Excluding the last one and maybe the second to last one this is exactly like a roughly decade old well maintained Toyota Avensis D4D.

Replace “Avensis D4D” with “shitty 1996 Xantia 1.9D with 500k km” and we have a deal. For shame Duurtlang, and I thought we were PSA brothers.

Well, major oil consumption in a 20 year old 500k km car with a 1980s engine is not the same as a 100k few years old ‘modern’ Toyota. I had a colleague with a d4d Avensis. He added a liter of oil every 1k km. In a recent car with low mileage. And there I am with my ‘unreliable’16 years old Italian built French car that I drive 30k a year. Which just passed inspection while needing nothing. Nothing but 1 bulb for license plate illumination. All the work it needed in the last year were brakes and tires, both for the first time in my 111k km of ownership. Oh, and oil and filters. And wiper fluid.

I don’t know where that rant came from. Yes, we’re still PSA brothers :)

That’s about 40 rods to the hogs head aint it? Good enough for me.

El Xantia went through alternators faster than it went through a tank of diesel.

That’s because it’s so incredibly frugal.
